Purpose gives life a taste. Yoga and detachment.
Purpose gives life a taste
Every action has a purpose, an incentive. Whether we go to the market or to school, we have a specific goal in mind. If such short-term daily actions have a set goal, is it possible to live on earth for 60, 70 years and not have a goal in front of you, leading forward and pointing the way? Purpose gives life a taste. When you don't have enough peas on your plate, you set them aside. But you have been dragging out existence for many years, leading a bland, tasteless life, without adding salt to it — God!
A person is praised and he is proud, scolded and he cringes. But for a bhakta, one who trusts God, such reactions are a sign of weakness. A person must withstand the onslaught of praise and blasphemy, success and defeat, joy and pain, and stand like Mount Meru, just as steadfastly and motionless. Once you accumulate desires, you will become their slave and discover that there is no end to them. Some have been fulfilled, but others are pressing in, and after they are fulfilled, something is missing again. Remember the inner divinity and show these irrepressible desires their place. The Atman in you is not influenced by desires, victories, defeats. They are passing clouds. The sun doesn't care if the clouds disperse or thicken.
Everyone knows the Ramayana. It contains a description of the Dandaka jungle, gloomy and dark, terrifying with the roaring of wild animals coming from everywhere. The forest is teeming with hordes of terrible cannibals-ryak-Shas, there roam the werewolf demons - Khara and Shurilpakha. On the open edges of the forest are the monasteries of the sages (rigii), where they lead a simple and pure life, immersed in God. Exiles come to this jungle — Prince Rama, his brother Lakshmana and his wife Sita. They spend several days with the great saints Agastya and Sarabunga, and visit the old hermit Sabari in her lonely dwelling. How does it end? Rama slays demons and restores peace, allowing the sages to quietly indulge in asceticism.
This is the external plot of the epic. But what exactly is the Dandaka jungle? You don't need to search for them on the map or scroll through historical reference books. This jungle is the heart of every human being. Evil feelings are rakshasas, good thoughts are rigias. Rama is the personification of viveka, the ability of the mind to discriminate. Sita and Lakshmana are the highest levels of consciousness, prajnana and sujnana (higher wisdom and practical wisdom). Rama suppresses evil feelings and encourages good thoughts. Rama is the king of Ayodhya. The word sshodhya means "impregnable", "invulnerable", therefore, no base, harmful feelings and thoughts can penetrate the heart where Rama resides. The poet Thyagaraja sang, "O mind, meditate on Rama with full awareness of His essence."
When I speak into the microphone, you can hear Me through the speakers. You're listening to the speakers, but I'm making the speech. Similarly, although your tongue pronounces words, it is the Self that motivates and formulates them. The owner of the car is driving. The machine (your body) has four wheels touching the ground (the ego has four human goals — virtue, well-being, fulfillment of worthy desires and liberation: dharma, artha, coma and moksha). The wheels are filled with air. Faith is the air that makes the journey through life safe. In all four wheels (the goals of life), the amount of air (faith) should be the same. The steering wheel controls the wheels. The steering wheel is the mind. Begging and drinking are the gasoline for the body's car, the tongue is its horn. You drive along the road, overcoming the ups and downs (samsara, mundane life). Realize that the driver behind the wheel is God. It will take you safely to your destination. Trust Him, don't be afraid of anything, don't worry or worry about anything. Commit yourself to Him. His grace can save you, His wisdom can give you enlightenment, His power can overcome all your obstacles. Faith, surrender to His will, is a manifestation of devotion (bhakti). They can bring peace and happiness to you and all people.
Today, when there are riots, fear and unrest throughout the country, everyone must contribute their share of soothing, gracious love to quell the burning fire of discontent. No government officials can do this as quickly and efficiently as you can with love and friendliness. The world can be saved only by the power of the Atman, hidden in everyone, and it must be revealed both through personal spiritual efforts and by the grace of God, won by love, purity and service.
Today, the nation is suffering the consequences of seven terrible sins. The first is a business without morality. The second is politics without principles. The third is education without character education. The fourth is worship without sacrifice. The fifth is wealth without hard work. The sixth is human life, which is not subject to the word of the Scriptures. The seventh is devotion without asceticism, abstinence. These are the seven deadly sins that destroy a nation. The country will return to peace and prosperity only when these sins are eradicated and business becomes moral, politicians are honest, educated people are noble and strong, and work becomes the basis of wealth.
